A magnificent tour of the Holy City of Jerusalem (UNESCO World Heritage site)begins with a drive to the old walled city. Enter its sacred gates and meander its labyrinth of winding cobblestone streets densely packed in an area covering less than one square mile.
In spite of its diminutive size, the Old City is of great symbolic importance for Judaism, Christianity and Islam. Your journey includes venerable locations which have existed for thirty centuries.
While walking through the four quarters that make up the Old City, you will visit the Western (Wailing) Wall, the Temple area, the Dome of the Rock, the Pool of Bethesda, and the Church of St. Anne.
Observe the solemnity of the Western Wall, the only surviving remnant of Judaism’s most sacred shrine, the Temple Mount; and gaze in awe at one of the world’s great architectural masterpieces, the Dome of the Rock. To the Muslims it is where the Prophet Muhammad ascended to heaven.
Next, walk the path of the Stations of the Cross as you traverse the Via Dolorosa, beginning at Pilate's Judgment Hall or Way of Sorrows to the Church of the Holy Sepulchre, the site of Jesus Christ’s crucifixion, burial and resurrection.
A stop in the biblical city of Bethlehem, spread along the Judean Hills, allows for a visit to the Church of the Nativity, the birthplace of Jesus and the first church ever built.
